Healthy On Campus Choices

It can be a challenge to find healthy choices when you eat on campus every day. You can find healthier options at each on campus restaurant if you look for them. To help out, we have provided a list of some of the better options for meals on campus.

CougarEat

Subway

Subway provides several options of sandwiches, salads, and wraps with 6 grams of fat or less.

Sandwiches:

  • Yakisoba (sauteed noodles with chicken and steamed vegetables): 360 calories, 4.5 g fat

 

Taco Bell

Taco Bell offers a Fresco Menu for those looking for lower fat options. The Fresco Menu is made up of 9 items under 9 grams of fat. Items on the Fresco Menu include:

  • Crunchy taco
  • Soft beef taco
  • Burrito supreme (chicken or steak)
  • Fiesta burrito
  • Zesty chicken border bowl without dressing
  • Ranchero chicken soft taco

  • Bean burrito

Also, if you have a sweet tooth but don't want to overindulge on calories, try out Taco Bell's Cinnamon Twists. They are only 170 calories and 7 grams of fat.

Cannon Center

The Commons at the Cannon Center offers a salad and wrap station with a variety of options. A few of their items include:

  • Greek salad
  • Jicama with citrus dressing
  • Cranberry, almond, and spinach salad
  • Couscous and vegetables
  • Thai noodle salad
  • Fennel and radish salad

Legends Grill

At Legends Grill you can create your own salad which allows you to choose lower fat options. The salads are tossed to order and start at a price of $6.25. Museum Café

Jamba Juice provides smoothies and juice that are full of flavor and vitamins. When eating at Jamba Juice, try out one of these five smoothies. Out of the many choices at Jamba Juice, these smoothies are lower in calories and fat than the others.
